Back in America, Back to Normality

Sun Jul 27, 2008, 11:13 PM
So my two semesters of studying in Japan are over. Been back for just over a month now. I'm pretty bummed out, because as much as I could list a ton of things I can't stand about the country, I love Japan and miss it very much. Figuring out ways to get back there eventually, but it won't be for a while. I'll hopefully post up more photos from my months there, and pretty soon I'll finally be cosplaying again which will produce new uploads as well. :D

Anyway, I'm really updating because :iconsaraqael: tagged me on a little survey thingie. I'm supposed to share 8 things about myself. I'm really bad at this so it's gonna be tough! Let's see...

1. I've gone by "Michi" for at least 10 years now. It traces back to when I was Sailor Neptune in a Sailormoon RP, and the Haruka/Uranus started calling me Michi outside of the game and it spread to other people/introductions/etc until it just stuck.
Bonus fact: Michiru/Neptune isn't my favorite Sailormoon character. :p It's Yaten/Starhealer. :D

2. Video games are my #1 interest/hobby and it'll probably stay that way. I've been playing games since I was 3 or 4, starting with the NES. (Then I switched to Sega Genesis in the next generation, so I wasn't a solely Nintendo kid!)

3. Sort of expanding on the last one... I don't go anywhere with my portable systems. It used to just be my DS, but now my PSP goes everywhere with me too. ;) They are both pink because I think the irony of that is hilarious.

4. Living in Japan brought up my language fluency to the point that I can comfortably talk to Japanese friends about whatever without slipping up (much). But I'm at this annoying hump where I really need to buckle down to get from "advanced intermediate" to truly "advanced" and it's frustrating. Taking the JLPT level 2 this year, wish me luck!

5. Also related to Japan, I lived there for eight months and I can't stand fish (it also makes me sick). Points for me, right there. Seriously though, there's a ton of other delicious things to eat there and the stereotype of everyone constantly eating fish isn't true. Even my host family barely ate any!

6. I can flip my feet backwards. Not at the same time, although when I do that I can get about 2/3 of the way. But if it's one at a time I can make my feet parallel with one facing backwards. I don't know why. I think because I was really pigeon toed when I was little and still walk with my toes pointed in. :x

7. I didn't learn how to ride a bike until I was 20, and I'm scared now (at 22) to try again. I did okay when I learned, but it's just nerve-wracking. I blame growing up in houses that were on hills for me never learning. I had a tricycle when I was little, though! ... and fell off it once, which left me with a scar on my knee that I still have something like 14 years later.

8. My favorite movie, video game, TV show, and song haven't changed for years upon years. That's Rocky Horror, Phantasy Star IV, Star Trek: The Next Generation, and Michael Jackson's Remember the Time respectively. :) ...Also I need to read more books. Durr.

That was pretty boring, sorry!

I'll be shocked if anyone does it since I barely ever use DA as it is, haha. MUST... USE... MORE... I need inspiration. :(

Hi! Thanks for the watch! You look really familiar, I feel like we've met before- augh, and I don't mean for that to sound like as much of a cheesy line as it does. ;_;
Gah, I swear devART never gives me notice of comments on my page.

Well, as cosplayers we probably have mutual friends or have passed by each other or somethingsomething somewhere along the way, right? ;) I know I met Kelly way back at Otakon '03 but I doubt she remembers me since it was so brief!

To be even more cheesy, your cosplay is tres cool so we should make sure that we at least meet in the future if we haven't in the past!
Oh god I'm sorry I'm so late in replying to this.
I'd love to meet you sometime! I think your cosplays are rather awesomely fabulous :D
You're probably right- the cosplay community isn't exactly huge, so it really wouldn't be surprising if we had mutual friends or somesuch. Anyhow, hopefully I'll see you sometime soon!
Don't worry about it! And oh man I am totally undeserving of that compliment, but thank you so much! I'm currently trying to see if I can make it to Otakon this year, but if not I'll be at Katsucon next year for almost-sure. I'm not entirely sure what your con schedule is like but I think I remember that you hit east coast stuff. :9
Awesome! :D
Yeah, I usually go to Otakon and Katsucon since they're nearby-ish and I'm really too lazy to travel very far for conventions. Hopefully we'll bump into each other then!
